‘Tis the Season

The holiday season is upon us, which means it’s time to get excited – there are more parties, events and celebrations to attend to. I don’t only enjoy actually attending parties as much as I like getting ready for them. I feel like it’s part of the evening; the process of picking your look, styling it and then making it work for yourself. In preparation for these festivities, I’ve discovered that Monsoon have it all – from the eye-catching mini sequin dress to a floor-sweeping showstopper.

I adore dresses that have a personality of their own, that speak for themselves without you having to accessorise so much. I am drawn to this one in particular for those reasons; it’s feminine with a sense of allurement.

The fact that it’s backless with a loose sash adds a dramatic effect as you walk. Most interestingly, you can style the hanging sash differently. It can either be worn as I have done, or you could tie it in a bow or even completely around your back.

I style this navy number with a delicate lace clutch and heels that both have gold detailing – adding that festive element to the look. These are pretty pieces that aren’t too loud so the focus of the outfit is on the gown.

Gift Guide

I’m sure yours as well as my favourite part of the holiday season is obvious, the gifting part of it all. I like to give as much as I like to get. I think it’s fun taking the time to pick a present out for someone and looking forward to seeing their reaction. There is nothing better than my moments with family during Christmas. We all live in different countries (sister in Sweden, brother and parents in The Gambia) and so the rare occasion that we’re all in the same place makes it that much more special. Our tradition has been the same for years – we gather under the tree with mulled wine and baked treats while we open our presents one by one. All the exciting exchanging of presents is followed by an incredible feast that I look forward to each year – will we ever be able to cook as well as our moms do?

Back to the gifting part of it all, Monsoon not only caters to the party girl in me, but they have so many trinkets perfect for stocking fillers as well as gifts. Whether for my colleague, friend or family, I’m definitely already sorted (let’s hope none of them are reading this post!).

Tip number one – a charismatic candle never fails, especially one with a splendid smell.

Everyone loves a somewhat personalised gift – these stylish little notebooks are ideal (other letters are available, obvs).

Looking for something charming and convenient? I present the adorable pineapple ring holder. You can stack as many rings as you own on this little guy (unless you are a ring hoarder and have like 50).

It’s time to move away from using the selfie cam on your phone as a mirror, wouldn’t you agree? This cute compact mirror is one that we all need. The top of the mirror is embellished with flowers and sparkling diamanté studs, super sweet!

It wouldn’t be the holidays without you getting a few bits and bobs for your own home. A gingerbread man, a decorated house and a rocking horse must join the ornament party on your tree.

I’m sure you can tell how into gold I am this season. Last but surely not least, this Moroccan inspired tassel bag is the optimal gift. It can be used to store things – for example your jewellery, make-up and/or hair accessories. Alternatively, I’d use mine as an everyday clutch. Talk about a versatile bag!
