I have had the same hairstyle for about a year now, I felt like it was time to spice it up a bit. I’m not so much of a risk taker, so I thought I’d start small, and possibly take a bigger step with making a more drastic change in the future.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with the term Ombre, Urban Dictionary refers to it as “hair colour fading from dark to light, or vice versa. Instead of the color starting from the roots, it gradually becomes lighter, or darker, towards the ends."

Ombre has always been one of my favourite hairstyles. I’ve admired all of the different kinds there are out there – some dark, some light, some discrete, some extreme. I have been quite content with my hair for the past 2 years, and that’s why I haven’t done it sooner, but I feel like I really want it now.

I chose Toni & Guy to get an Ombre done because of their amazing reputation, and I’m glad I did because they proved me right. I went to their salon on North Audley Street in London – a gorgeous space with plenty of friendly and helpful hairdressers.

When I arrived we discussed what I’d like done, showing my hairdresser inspirational photos of what I wanted. It didn’t take long for her to completely get what I meant, and so we got started.

As you have probably noticed, my hair was all one length. But in order for Ombre to be appreciated, I had to get my hair layered slightly. I always thought that I would only keep it one length, as that was what I was used to and comfortable with. I’m so glad I listened and let them layer it though, I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.

The photos above show you the steps that were taken to create the beautiful result. As I have a lot of hair, it took quite some time to complete the whole process – I think I went through 4 cappuccinos.

I am so pleased with the results, it’s exactly what I envisioned and ask for, thank you Toni & Guy!
